Blog Post #1 EME2040
Hi! My name is Katherine Risdon, but I go by Kate. I am from Florida and I am a junior. I am studying Family and Child Sciences and hope to one day become a Child Psychologist. I have nannied my whole life and have always known that one day in my job, I wanted to help children.
My prior experiences in technology would be mostly that for my four years of high school, I was in a Media Production class. I used Premiere Pro to create videos for our school. I also ended up working with some nonprofits and elementary schools to help produce videos for them. I have always loved technology, so I cannot wait to learn so much more in this class.
Some learning resources that I use online are social media apps. I like to learn about what goes on behind that scenes in these apps and how they help people communicate with others, near or far. For communication with friends and family, I use apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. For my education, I use Outlook, Canvas, and many more resources. I love how much technology helps us learn, especially in times like this in the pandemic where we cannot be around so many people as often.
This course is designed for pedagogical uses of technologies. Since this course is an introductory course, you will not learn many advanced technologies but will be introduced some emerging technologies. I am sure you will learn some useful skills for teaching from this course.

It is so cool to know that you have already created several videos using Premiere Pro since I have never done that before, and I am looking forward to acquiring new technical skills and learning tips from teachers and classmates ^-^!

I definitely agree with your point that technology has helped us greatly during the pandemic, I am excited to learn more about technology so I can grow in my knowledge! i hope you have a great semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate! It is really cool that you were able to gain a lot of experience with Premiere Pro in your production class in high school. I'm sure you are pretty advanced with technology. I agree with you on the fact that technology has helped during the pandemic. We were able to fully function as a big university through very few programs such as Zoom, Canvas, and outlook. It is crazy how far we have come in the technology sector in society
ReplyDeleteHey Katie! I think its awesome you want to be child psychologist, that's what I wanted to be for the longest time. Its amazing you've helped with nonprofits to make videos for them, I would love to do something like that, but I have no idea how to make movies haha.

I've never taken a media production class, but I think that's something I would really like. I've also never used Premiere Pro, but I hope to gain new technological skills in this class throughout the semester. I look forward to reading your other posts!
ReplyDeleteHey Kate! Awesome post and I love the aesthetic of your page! Thats so interesting that you are a nanny, that must be hard work! I assume you must be a very patient person as well for that field. I want to work with children as well, possibly as a teacher. Great to learn a bit about you!
