Blog Journal #3

Copyright is the rights you have when making your own, original work. It can be a work, song, book, movie, or anything of that matter. Fair use is known as the law in the United States that permits the limited usage of material (copyrighted), but not having to have permission from the owner of the material. As a teacher, I would make it clear as to teach the students what is okay and not okay to take off the internet, and how to go about using other peoples work correctly. When I make my own curriculum or lesson plans, I will make sure to mark with a copyright or watermark to put on my own original work. I would like to teach my students what that means so they know for future reference for them to be successful.

One huge issue that I could see happening being a teacher is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying happens at all ages, but increases as students get their hands on technology and social media. I also think that there can be a lack of productivity when it comes to having technology at times. With things such as iPads and computers, students have more access to getting distracted and switching to different apps at times. Even on apps, such as Notability which you take notes on, students can doodle and draw, instead of taking notes.

While working on the Newsletter Design, I learned many new things. I learned how to do simple things, such as the columns and switching between one and two. I also learned how to better put clipart on the pages and making the fonts more interesting and appealing to look at. In the future, I think I would make it even more appealing to look at color wise and being smarter about where I put certain things. The skills I learned during this assignment will help me take better, more enjoyable to look at notes, and just understand Microsoft word better. I thought I knew a lot about it, but after doing this assignment, I feel even more comfortable about using this software. I really enjoyed this assignment, I thought it was super fun to do and let me show my creative side.

  1. Firstly, your blog is so pretty! I didn't even know they could look like this I need to give mine a makeover. Secondly, I greatly enjoyed reading your entry on copyright and fair use because in all honesty I was still a little confused after watching the video and reading the article. You, however, made it very understandable!

  2. In my previous company, we developed a device which has limited access to apps and internet contents to reduce digital distraction while students are studying. It worked with elementary students but was not really effective for teenagers. The older students put their smart phone next to the device and parents could not control them.
