School Website
I found a school website page from the DeSoto Trail Elementary School located in Tallahassee, FL. I am looking specifically on the Fourth Grade web class page. What I can see publicly is a brief description about what to expect in class for the year and some of the programs and curriculum they use such as: "Think Central Go! Math", "Ed Science" and the "Wonders" program. I think it is great that they include the types of applications that the students will use in the upcoming year. In addition, I can click on each Fourth Grade teacher and learn more about them! There are also other links on the main Fourth Grade page that leads you to their Assessment procedures, information about Curriculum Night, a page to addition Forms and Letters, and then finally a supply list for the students.
When teaching one day, I would love to use Google Drive as a place to have students collaborate and easily share with their peers. I also hope to use Canvas because I think it is a very well thought out, accessible application for quizzes and assignments. I also would like to continue using Blogger and bring it into my classroom. The reason for this is because I find it so awesome that we are able to post, read others posts, and comment. I also love how we can edit our pages and make them personal to us; showing off our style! Lastly, I would like to use Membean in my classroom. It is a vocabulary application that teaches you new vocabulary each week, assesses your knowledge, and has fun games and activities to keep you engaged!
PBWorks Experience
When I first opened the wiki platform, PBWorks, I was not excited. It looked outdated, to me, and boring. But as our group started collaborating, after going to office hours to ask Professor Choi questions, and just going through the site, my mind completely changed about this website. I think it was pretty easy to edit each page, my only complaint is I would like to make the pages more creative and personal, not just changing the colors or fonts. With future K-12 students, I think PBWorks could be a good application to do a group activity that has to do with collaboration, kind of like what our class just did, but on a smaller scale. It was a great learning experience in holding each other accountable and working together to make a great wiki page!
