New Skills from Assignment 5
While working on Assignment 5: PowerPoint Interaction, I really learned a lot. I decided to do a jeopardy style powerpoint on the Human Body Systems. It was very tedious and took a lot of time, but it ended up being an assignment I was super proud of because I didn't realize I could really do it! Some new skills I acquired while making this jeopardy game was the "Action Buttons" and how they work. I made a home button, an answer button, and a back button on each page. This skill will be something I will use a lot in the future and I am so happy this project taught me about it. I also learned more about the animation options and how to personalize pages more than just color and font- now I know how to put pictures and text in front or behind each other and customize charts to add links in them to take you to different slides. There was not really anything I did not like about this project, it really taught me a ton! It also taught me PATIENCE!
Data Collection Tools as a Future Teacher
As a teacher, I think I will use data collection, surveys, in many different instances. I will use excel sheets for data involving my students and also teach my students how to do it so they can incorporate the spread sheet and the survey into their own work. It is a great way to show data and it also enhances assignments or projects by looking official. The surveys and sheets can look tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it really is not that complex.
Reviewing classmates' Blogs
While reading and commenting on my classmates blogs over the semester, I feel like I have learned new topics and things about each person. I think these blog styles assignments have done a great job of learning about my peers, which is awesome considering we do not meet in person. These blogs have allowed us to show our personalities, opinions, and writing styles through these submissions. I also love how we were given the opportunity to pick topics for certain assignments and blog submissions, which really showed everyones interests and ideas.
Tech-Flex and Digital Badges
Throughout this semester, I have participated in a few tech flex assignments, earning me some badges. I did the "Good Things in Miro" adding something good that has happened recently. I also did the "Something I am thankful for" sticky note which reminded me of all my blessings and how perfect that it is Thanksgiving week! Another tech flex I participated in was the "Letters to the future" which really meant a lot to me. I cannot wait to get that email in 3 years that I wrote myself and see where I am and who I have become. "I've written a letter to my future teacher self/future self." Another tech flex I did was a vision board on Pinterest for my future job and classroom! Here is the link to it. I think these tech flex and badge tasks have really brought educational technology into the real world and allow us to once again show our personality and creative side.
Technology related skill: Animation
Something I would like to learn next is graphic design and how to animate the content I create. I think it is so impressive when people use online applications to paint or draw creations and animate them. I do not even know how to go about doing that whatsoever so I am really interested in learning. I have always loved drawing and painting and I think this animation could really enhance my teaching one day and keep the students interested. I have watched tutorials and informational videos online and one day when I have free time, I would love to try it out.
